Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) provide multi-disciplinary assessment, treatment and care of individuals with severe and enduring mental health problems. They provide a service to individuals from 16 years of age up to 70 years of age with a diagnosed functional mental health problem.
Main duties of the job
Clinical role
1. Undertake assessments of referrals/ admissions to the service
2. Diagnose and formulate management plans in complex presentations.
3. Provide management in treatment resistant and complex presentations
4. Assessment and management of risk including vulnerability, suicide risk, risks to health and safety, and risk of harm to others.
5. Preparation of Mental Health Review Tribunal and Managers' Hearings reports and attendance at subsequent hearings.
6. Work in a collaborative way with multidisciplinary teams including external partners.
7. Work in partnership with psychiatrists from partner providers such as Forensic and Rehabilitation Psychiatrists.
Leadership role
1. Lead clinical decision making in the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high quality care
2. Develop service clinical priorities in line with national and professional guidance and standards
3. Engage with service transformation programmes including attendance at Consultant meetings for their service and directorate.
