Job overview
The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Kent and Medway All-age Eating Disorder Service (AAEDS), representing NELFT by providing leadership, support and guidance to team members and trust staff and ensuring a patient focused service.
The post will provide assessment and supporting the diagnosis of people with eating disorders. They will work as a specialised member of the AAEDS to assist in reducing protracted inpatient stays
The role is a collaborative one working with individuals and groups across professional and organisational boundaries.
Main duties of the job
·To be responsible for organising and prioritising own and others workload.
·To have organisational knowledge relating to Trust protocols and procedures and adhere to them.
·To be responsible for providing accurate records of information required by the Trust for audit purposes.
·To ensure effective risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting, assessing and controlling risk and ensuring residual risks are added to the Trust register.
·To work effectively with GPs to ensure early referral and diagnosis
·To work jointly and collaboratively with NELFT colleagues in order to enhance and develop services to service users and their families.
·To ensure communication channels are consistent and understandable and that information provided is relevant and informed.

Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period.
NELFT place great importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, including mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

4. NVQ level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy
5. Successful completion of a graduate training as a registered nurse with current NMC registration status
Experience

6. Experience of working with patients with eating disorders. Experience of carrying out generic assessment with other colleagues in the multi-disciplinary team
7. Experience of initiating, organising and planning inter-agency meetings aimed at setting in place a treatment package tailored to the individual needs of the patient
8. Experience of providing professional teaching and training for other professionals working with the client group within the service and within related agencies.
9. Experience of providing clinical interventions in different cultural contexts. Experience of service development and demonstrates ability to managing change
Knowledge
Essential criteria
10. An awareness of NHS priorities. An awareness of NHS Plan, NSF and clinical governance priorities. Knowledge of NHS, Social Care and Education structures, national policies and frameworks, evidence-based practice including NICE guidelines
11. Knowledge of the theory and practice of working with eating disorders at a range of severities and complexities. Knowledge of legislation and guidelines in relation to eating disorders and safeguarding procedures and policies
12. Knowledge of risk management and ability to monitor and assess risk and act accordingly to ensure safety
13. Knowledge of research methodology and outcome research methodology and outcome research design and ability to critically interpret research findings.

16. Specialist skill in the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the eating disorder service
