We have an exciting opportunity for you to join RSK Geosciences in central Scotland for a Geo-Environmental Engineer. Working alongside an experienced team based UK-wide, you will get involved with a wide variety of geotechnical and land contamination projects covering sectors including energy infrastructure, renewable energy, development/regeneration projects and local authorities. We have been involved in several high profile and award-winning projects, which have been recognised at the Environment Analyst Brownfield Awards. The RSK Geosciences training programme laos won the 2024 Ground Engineering Award for Excellence in Learning and Development What you can expect in this position As a geo-environmental engineer you’ll be responsible for undertaking project investigations, with a focus on site-based work. This will include both geo-environmental and geotechnical site investigations, data interpretation and reporting. The role would suit someone with a proactive ‘can do’ approach, close attention to deal, enthusiasm to get the job done well and ability to get on with a wide range of people. Our current team works out of offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Hybrid working will also be considered. What you'll be doing: Undertaking Preliminary Risk Assessments (Phase 1 Desk Studies) and intrusive site investigations for environmental and/or geotechnical purposes in line with national standards and codes of practice Managing fieldwork activities including supervising drilling and excavation works, and undertaking gas and groundwater monitoring, low-flow groundwater sampling and surface water sampling Supporting the project manager in planning new projects including liaising with subcontractors and suppliers and preparing health, safety, environment and quality (SHEQ) documentation Scheduling soil, rock and water samples for chemical and geotechnical laboratory testing Writing factual and interpretative reports Supporting tender managers in preparing fee proposals. What we're looking for: BSc degree level qualified in Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Science or a related subject essential. 2-3 years previous relevant work experience Rock core logging capabilities is advantageous but not essential Willing to spend a significant amount of their working day out on site and away from home. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing Ability to multi-task, plan and prioritise workload Able to work independently and as part of a team Skilled with Microsoft Office applications in particular Word and Excel.
