Job Description
Fixed-term – September 2025 to July 2026
This is a wonderful opportunity for a Graduate Assistant – Music to join a flourishing boarding and day school set on an attractive 100-acre campus in a beautiful part of rural Surrey.
We are offering a music placement for a graduate with a music-related degree or equivalent, who may want to gain experience of working in a school environment prior to training as a teacher. We are also happy to consider those applicants who are due to graduate in the near future.
A gifted and enthusiastic musician, ideally with some pianistic skills, your role will involve different functions across the whole school; leading individual sessions and small groups and working alongside the class teachers to design, develop, and deliver exceptional lessons. You will also have the responsibility of assisting in music clubs after school and in the evening and be available to give pastoral support to the pupils.
Due to the nature of resident tutor roles, as part of this position accommodation will be provided and a competitive salary (dependent on age) in return for variable hours and days worked to support musical events and functions within the school calendar. We also offer free car parking, free use of our gym, swimming pool and sports facilities, all meals and snacks on duty, and a Cycle to Work Scheme. Paid additional residential duties may also be available for the right candidate.
King Edward’s School is a co-educational boarding and day 11-18 school for some 470 pupils, around 30% of whom are full boarders. We are an HMC school and proud of our unique heritage and place among British co-educational independent schools.
To apply, please complete the Application Form or for further details, visit our website www.kesw.org or contact the HR Department on HR@KESW.ORG or telephone 01428 686739.
Closing date for applications: 12 noon Friday, 28th February 2025. The School reserves the right to interview and appoint prior to the closing date, therefore early applications are recommended.
