Senior Human Factors Engineer
Location: Remote - Occasional travel to client site - Devonport (approx. 2 days a month)

Our client plays a key role in maintaining the Royal Navy's fleet of surface ships and nuclear submarines, both within the UK and internationally. With growing business demands, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced human factors professional to join the team at our client’s UK team at the DRD site.
Collaborating within a human factors team, your role will involve supporting engineers and other scientific disciplines working in the high-hazard, nuclear-regulated industry by contributing to the design and development of new systems, processes, and facilities, as well as modifications to existing ones and providing human factors expertise in the nuclear safety assessment process.
Qualifications
* First degree in Psychology plus MSc in Occupational Psychology, Applied Psychology, Industrial Psychology, or Ergonomics based discipline or an engineering degree with high psychological/ergonomics content (or equivalent).
* The individual should be a Registered Member of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors or a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society with experience of working in the Human Factors field within high hazard industries.
Experience
* Significant experience working within high hazard process industries (e.g. nuclear, defence, or petrochemical).
* Sound understanding of nuclear safety assessment principles and safety case production.
* Familiarity with both HF qualitative and quantitative HRA techniques (e.g. HEART, THERP, APJ).
* Experience in the application of human factors knowledge/understanding in support of engineering system/process design.
* Sound knowledge in the principles underpinning training development in a structured manner.
* Ability to clearly understand engineering concepts and communicate effectively with engineers and other scientific disciplines on human factors related matters.
* Ability to manage time effectively and deliver work packages against tight programme deadlines.
* Experience in the application of psychological ethics associated with the undertaking of research and professional practice.
* Incident/event investigation experience.
