Role Summary:
SHOs in psychiatry provide essential support in delivering care to patients with mental health issues. They work closely with registrars and consultants, conducting assessments and initiating treatment under supervision.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct psychiatric assessments of patients, including history taking, mental state examination, and risk assessment.
* Formulate initial management plans under supervision.
* Prescribe medications as advised by senior clinicians.
* Participate in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
* Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
* Provide mental health care in acute or community settings.
* Respond to on-call duties, which may include attending emergencies or providing psychiatric input in A&E.

Requirements:

2. Locum SPR (Specialist Registrar) in Psychiatry
Role Summary:
Specialist Registrars (SpRs) in psychiatry have a more advanced level of clinical responsibility, often supervising junior doctors and contributing to patient management plans.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and manage complex cases.
* Supervise SHOs and assist with their clinical development.
* Lead MDT meetings and contribute to case discussions.
* Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans, including psychological and pharmacological interventions.
* Provide consultation-liaison psychiatry services to other departments.
* Participate in the on-call rota, handling emergencies and supporting junior staff.
* Engage in teaching and training activities for SHOs and medical students.
* Contribute to audits, research, and service improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
* GMC registration and relevant psychiatry training (Core Training complete, working towards CCT).
* MRCPsych or equivalent.
* Demonstrable leadership and supervisory skills.

3. Locum Consultant Psychiatrist
Role Summary:
Consultant Psychiatrists provide senior clinical leadership within the psychiatry team. They are responsible for overseeing the management of patients, delivering specialist care, and contributing to service development.
Responsibilities:
* Provide clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team, ensuring high standards of patient care.
* Carry out comprehensive assessments and formulate detailed treatment plans.
* Manage a caseload of complex patients in inpatient, outpatient, or community settings.
* Supervise and mentor junior doctors, including SPRs and SHOs.
* Offer second opinions and expert advice within the trust.
* Participate in strategic planning, service development, and policy formation.
* Handle on-call responsibilities, including offering senior input during psychiatric emergencies.
* Engage with external stakeholders, such as social services, primary care providers, and commissioners.
* Lead teaching, training, and research within the department.
Requirements:
* Full GMC registration with CCT in psychiatry or eligibility for the Specialist Register.
* Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent.
* Significant clinical and leadership experience.
* Proven ability to manage and oversee multidisciplinary teams.
* Expertise in a psychiatry subspecialty (e.g., General Adult, CAMHS, Old Age, Forensic).
