The Director Antibody Discovery Technologies is responsible for delivering new tools and technologies which sustain and expand Abcam's antibody discovery capabilities. Antibody discovery is the core R&D process at Abcam, you will lead the Antibody Discovery Technologies team in defining a technical roadmap and executing projects which deliver the discovery tools on-time and on-budget. These projects will require the use of both internal and external resources, leveraging our own expertise, collaborators, opportunities to work with other Danaher companies and outsourced providers. This position reports to the VP of Research and Innovation and is part of the Research and Innovation team located in Cambridge and will be on-site. A multi-disciplinary team of scientists building tools and capabilities to ensure Abcam remains a leader in antibody discovery at scale. - Build an antibody discovery technical roadmap, defining and prioritizing the capabilities Abcam requires for the next 3-5 years to ensure we are able to tackled a broad range of targets and deliver products to meet customer needs. - Define antibody discovery projects and programmes, secure resources and then drive them to achieve technical goals and deliver on-time and on-budget. - Serve as a subject matter expert on immunology and antibody discovery, contributing to solving scientific challenges across NPD and custom projects. - Work as part of multidisciplinary teams employing the Danaher Business System to drive improvement and solve problems across the business. - Build a network and create opportunities for collaborative projects with Danaher operating companies, academia and outsourced providers. The essential requirements of the job include: - A Ph.D., or equivalent in a life sciences discipline - Long standing extensive experience in antibody discovery gained in biopharma - Multiple years of experience managing people and leading a team - A deep knowledge of antibody discovery, including the current state of the art - Ability to distil complex scientific problems and communication effectively to both scientific and non-scientific stakeholders. - Ability to work collaboratively in matrix settings, both within the organization and with external partners - Track record of delivering challenging technical projects on-time and on-budget.
