The Senior Director, Antibody Solutions is responsible for overseeing the management of our Primary Antibody Portfolio. Pivotal in driving near- and long-term performance you will be responsible for delivering on positioning, messaging, competitive differentiation, and managing the entire product lifecycle, from product introduction to product line rationalization.
This position reports to the VP, Portfolio Management and is part of the Portfolio Management team located in Cambridge, UK and will be on-site. At Abcam, our vision is to be the most influential life sciences company for researchers worldwide.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
1. Execute on a comprehensive primary antibody strategy that drives innovation, enhances product quality, and expands Abcam’s market leadership in this category. Establish and refine strategies that maximize revenue and market share while ensuring competitiveness in the global market. Monitor and analyze key performance metrics, making data-driven decisions to optimize primaries portfolio and market positioning.
2. Engage with customers, thought leaders, and industry experts to gain deep insights into market needs and preferences. Identify opportunities for growth, innovation and refinement, ensuring the portfolio meets the evolving needs of researchers in the academic and biopharma fields.
3. Define portfolio pricing, promotion, and placement for all products within the portfolio to achieve revenue growth and ensuring optimal sales mix across channels. Analyze key markets, technology trends, customer needs, and competitors to identify revenue growth drivers and opportunities across workflows and customer segments. Leverage these insights to refine product offerings and enhance customer satisfaction.
4. Deliver revenue performance, planning and analysis for the Primaries category, including revenue forecasting, portfolio management actions, and performance tracking. Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on portfolio performance and key metrics.
5. Lead and inspire a team of portfolio managers providing guidance, mentorship, and support to drive excellence and innovation.
6. Work closely with R&D, sales, marketing, and operations teams to ensure successful execution of go-to-market strategies, and alignment on Primary portfolio priorities.
The essential requirements of the job include:
1. University degree (in Marketing, Business, Life Sciences, or a related field; advanced degree preferred).
2. Extensive proven experience in product marketing and project management (including life-sciences, pharmaceutical and/or FMCG industries).
3. Proven analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions to drive category growth and profitability in a competitive, high product mix market and environment.
4. Exceptional leadership, collaboration, and communication skills, with experience guiding cross-functional teams.
5. Experience with market research, customer engagement, and competitive analysis and demonstrating moving insights into action.
6. Highly motivated, visionary, and results-driven, with a passion for building market leading solutions in the life-sciences industry.
7. Proficiency in category management software, analytics tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements
1. Ability to travel 30% of time, internationally as required.
