Operational Responsibilities Monitor skill-mix and deployment of medical staff to ensure optimal service delivery. Manage staffing levels within agreed budgets with the Senior/Operations Manager working with administrative staff to fulfil staff rotas with the appropriate skill mix for the service. Support the management of sickness absence of GPs in partnership with the Operations Manager and undertake quality and performance monitoring to identify any related issues. Evaluate, organise, and oversee medical staff recruitment, induction and training and ensure that all staff are adequately trained to fulfil their role. As Medical Lead, you would be required to support medical clinicians directly and non-medical clinicians in collaboration as their direct professional lead when the clinicians performance is causing concern and oversee the development, delivery, and monitoring of action plans in respect of individual need for educational programs / targeted learning or retraining to realise their full potential in line with company policy and procedures. Collaborate with the senior management team, People Services, Medical Director, Associate Medical Director, and Responsible Officer to manage performance, resolution of disputes and grievances in accordance with gtd healthcare policies and procedures. Attend internal and external meetings, ensuring good working relations and that feedback and developments are communicated appropriately. Professional Leadership Responsibilities Work collaboratively with Senior Managers to develop and maintain effective service delivery models. Support the Clinical Effectiveness agenda. Lead on the professional development and recruitment of the medical workforce in collaboration with the Head of Locality, Head of Nursing and Medical Director/Associate Medical Director Work collaboratively on the development of medical recruitment and retention strategies to support a stable workforce. Work collaboratively with Senior Managers to support medical and nonmedical staff development to maximise individual potential, provide clinical supervision, always acting as a positive role model. Actively promote the workplace as a learning environment, encouraging everyone to learn from each other and from external good practice. This would include delivery of relevant education to medical and clinical colleagues. Encourage reflective practice within the team demonstrating a positive and supportive approach with support to the Operations Manager for clinical performance management issues. Work proactively within the teams to support and develop user and carer involvement in service delivery and service redesign to ensure the development of patient centred care and implementation of Trauma Informed Care. Ensure the continued development of medical standards, building on good practice by developing a professional accountability framework for medical staff across the service. Work closely with the teams to take a collaborative approach to decision making with encouragement of the multi-disciplinary team-work and clinical excellence by motivating and developing each clinician individually and as part of a team. Working with the Operations Manager, you would ensure that the team maintain high quality standards for the environment in line with gtd healthcare policies and procedures and CQC standards. Ensure the service team implements and maintains national and organisational governance standards with appropriate support from the service and gtd healthcare central resources. Participate and ensure the delivery of regular clinical meetings with the Operations Manager and Clinical Service Manager to discuss and manage service issues and provision. Attend meetings, to optimise local integration opportunities and support the delivery of service and growth of the services within the local health economy. Clinical Practice Perform safe trauma informed and culturally appropriate clinical assessment of patients as part of a clinical portfolio. Plan, implement and evaluate an effective management plan for the patient, ensuring safe discharge/referral and/or transfer to an appropriate health care service. Use of evidence to inform effective practice across the service using the results or national clinical audit projects, confidential enquiries and clinical guidelines published by external bodies. Support clinical staff with definitive clinical assessment, prescribing and clinical advice with priorities and outcomes and ensure appropriate policies, guidelines and procedures are followed. Support lead speciality clinical staff to develop and align services to national guidance. Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent, emergency, or routine situations, including initiation of effective emergency care. Keep up to date with all aspects of clinical practice including NICE guidelines and Clinical Effectiveness and supporting others to embed these within service. Identify themes and trends in population health and proactively support in reducing health inequalities. Support the service to deliver on Key Performance Indicators and meet the national service specifications. Support clinical staff with the signing of PGDs and PSDs for emergency vaccinations clinics and routine vaccinations clinics, influenza, pneumococcal, and shingles vaccinations after due diligence. Communication Utilise and demonstrate sensitive communication styles, to staff and patients. Communicate effectively (and to further support staff in this area) with patients and carers, recognising the need for alternative methods of communication to overcome different levels of understanding, cultural background, and preferred ways of communicating. Anticipate barriers to communication and take action to improve communication. Maintain effective communication within the organisation and with external stakeholders. Ensure awareness of sources of support and guidance and provide information in an acceptable format to all patients, recognising any difficulties and referring where appropriate. Delivering a Quality Service Recognise and work within own competence and the professional code of conduct as regulated by the GMC. Produce accurate, contemporaneous, and complete records of patient consultation, consistent with legislation, policies and procedures. Deliver care according to evidence based validated clinical guidelines including NICE, QOF and other targets/guidelines. Assess effectiveness of care delivery through self and peer review, benchmarking, and formal evaluation. At all times to behave as a professional clinician and act as ambassador for the service reflecting the values of gtd healthcare. Initiate and participate in the maintenance of quality governance systems and processes across the organisation and its activities. To work with medical staff to ensure they are supported in their GMC revalidation requirements. Support the Medical Director and Associate Medical Director Primary Care Services to support appraisal outcomes, 1-1s and reflection where appropriate within the service. Utilise the audit cycle as a means of evaluating the quality of the work of self and the teams, implementing improvements where required. In partnership with other clinical teams, collaborate on improving the quality of health care responding to local and national policies and initiatives as appropriate. Work with the governance team to ensure that risks, incidents or complaints are dealt with in a timely manner, to ensure appropriate escalation within the clinical and wider management team. Support and participate in shared learning across the organisation and wider organisation. To support staff to understand and apply legal issues that support the identification of vulnerable and abused children and adults and be aware of statutory child/vulnerable patients health procedures and local safeguarding guidance.
