Introduction to REMOS
SRL Traffic Systems have created REMOS which will transform signalised traffic management by eliminating the requirement for on-site operatives to manually control signals. Instead, control in a centralised secure control room. This approach reduces labour and transportation cost and ESG credentials while enhancing safety by minimizing on-site personnel exposure to traffic hazards and potential abuse from road users. Additionally, REMOS enhances operational efficiency by enabling a single operator to oversee multiple sites simultaneously, optimising traffic flows using live video feeds from on-site equipment.
Purpose of the Job
A REMOS Control Centre Operator will play an integral role in successfully delivering REMOS as a system to end clients and driving it forward to be accepted as the safest most efficient method of temporary traffic control at Roadworks across the UK. We are looking for Traffic Control Room Operators to work in our busy control room to monitor and maintain balanced traffic flows across multiple sites at any given time, while remaining naturally composed and alert. You’ll form part of an innovative team, who diligently monitor the flow of the traffic and respond timely in the event of increased congestion. As a Traffic Control Room Operator, you’ll contribute positively to the future of Traffic Management control on networks across all regions.
We are considering Full time hours between 8am and 5pm Monday to Sunday and Part time hours which will be 4 hour shifts a day in either AM or PM.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Work with SRL Control Hub system to monitor and manage traffic of varying junction sizes and locations.
Work collaboratively with Engineers, contractors, local authorities, Emergency Services and ultimately the REMOS team. All this to ensure correct timings and interventions are carried out to maximise junction efficiency.
Traffic Management plans will become second nature to you, you will assess these through training and experience to ensure our roads operate more efficiently and safely when traffic volumes increase.
You will be encouraged to find new ways to improve our processes, traffic management, and make recommendations.
Collate information of traffic conditions and feedback to clients where required.
Understand the importance of local authority traffic management policies, practices and procedures, including operational systems.
Person Specification (Skills, Experience, Knowledge)
Essential:
Evidence of previous work experience.
Relevant industry experience preferred.
Shift working or overtime as required by the business to a high level of flexibility.
Desirable:
Highways Industry experience would be an asset.
Experience in a traffic monitoring control room or operational environment would be advantageous.
Traffic Management experience would be a relevant skill for this position.
Computer literate and analytical skills, combined with desire to work with new technology and systems and not be daunted by continual challenges.
Driven, resilient and efficient, demonstrating confidence and professionalism no matter how challenging the situation.
Organised, competent and decisive in prioritising workload while monitoring multiple sites.
Report writing will be required to document communications with internal and external stakeholders and you know which important details to include so continual improvement can be delivered.
Qualifications

Good level of literacy and numeracy.
