MAIN PURPOSE:
* Assist with the management of internal controls
* Assist with the management of the audit process and relationship with auditors
* Insurance lead and management of insurance claims
* Provide a high-quality customer focused delivery of financial accounting services to Brainkind, that is compliant with statutory regulations, is best practice and meets the requirements of the internal and external customers
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Assist in the management of financial accounting processes to trial balance, ensuring all processes are undertaken on a timely basis, to a high standard, and ensure compliance with legislation and best practice
* Preparation of cash flow and cash forecasts
* Preparation of monthly key balance sheet reconciliations including payroll control account and all other control/suspense accounts
* Preparation of the statutory annual accounts
* Assist in managing the audit process and relationship with auditors
* Assist in the management of the financial accounting system, Sun Accounts and Proactis as well as any other approved systems
* Assist in reviewing all finance policies and procedures including the development of new processes where needed
* Insurance lead and manage all insurance claims for Brainkind
* Assist in management of tax for Brainkind
* Preparation and review of FRS and Charity SORP reporting and technical accounting papers;
* Liaison with auditors on technical accounting issues
* Assist with improving billing process - centrally into Finance department
* Manage the completion of National Statistics returns
* Undertake any ad-hoc projects as identified by the Financial Controller, Deputy Director of Finance, Executive Director of Finance & Business, the CEO and other key stakeholders within the organisation and carry out any other tasks deemed appropriate to the role
* Partake in all system and process design assignments that relate to Finance systems, making suitable recommendations.
* Oversee and participate in training of staff on all finance systems
ABOUT YOU:
* A driven and focused individual
* Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
* Adept problem-solving skills
* Good attention to detail
* The ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
* Knowledge of accounting systems particularly SUN Systems
* Good technical accounting knowledge, including knowledge of accounting standards and the requirements for producing statutory accounts
* A track history of implementing and improving controls and processes
* Strong IT skills (especially Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams)
* Previous charity experience
* Qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) or qualified by experience
