About the Role:
Are you passionate about improving the lives of children and families, and ready to take on a challenging and rewarding role? Our client is seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join their Help and Protection Team. This role focuses on providing vital support to children and families facing difficulties, ensuring children are safeguarded, and that their welfare is promoted through timely interventions and family support.
As a Social Worker in the Help and Protection Team, you will work directly with families to assess risks, devise safety plans, and provide ongoing support to enable children to thrive. You will be responsible for safeguarding children, managing a caseload of children in need, child protection cases, and children subject to care proceedings. Your work will make a significant difference in the lives of vulnerable children, helping them achieve stability and a brighter future.
Key Responsibilities:
* Undertake comprehensive assessments of children and families, identifying risks and protective factors and ensuring appropriate interventions are put in place.
* Work with families to develop child-centred safety plans that reduce risks and promote the well-being of children.
* Carry out child protection enquiries and work with children subject to child protection plans, ensuring their safety and stability.
* Manage a diverse caseload including children in need, children at risk of significant harm, and children subject to care proceedings.
* Prepare and present detailed reports for child protection conferences, legal proceedings, and other key meetings, ensuring all decisions are well-evidenced and in the best interests of the child.
* Work closely with partner agencies, including education, health, police, and voluntary organisations, to deliver a co-ordinated multi-agency approach to safeguarding children.
* Attend and contribute to strategy meetings, core groups, and review conferences to ensure ongoing risk management and review of care plans.
* Build positive, trusting relationships with children and families, working in a strengths-based way to support families in making positive changes.
* Engage with children and young people, ensuring their views are heard and taken into account when developing care and protection plans.
* Keep up-to-date and accurate records of all work undertaken, ensuring compliance with Children Act (1989), Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018), and other relevant legislation.
* Participate in regular supervision and reflective practice, maintaining a focus on personal and professional development.
* Contribute to the ongoing development of the service by sharing best practice, learning from casework, and identifying areas for improvement.
