Role Overview
We are seeking a Lead Mechatronics Engineer with a desire to make their mark within a rapidly growing business unit embedded within an established PLC company. The unit's mission is to drive the expansion of AB Dynamics into new markets internationally through the development and deployment of existing and new technologies.
As Lead mechatronics engineer, you will be responsible for leading the ongoing development, testing, integration and bringing to a production ready state, the Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical components for novel, intelligent automation systems.
The role will encompass leading the fitment of automation solutions to customer vehicles and liaising with customers and stakeholders to understand the customer needs and translating these into practical and cost-effective solutions. You will be responsible for the ongoing improvement and cost reduction roadmap of the Mechatronics elements to maintain and improve product performance, handle obsolescence and drive continuous improvement; this is a hands-on role.
What will you be doing?
* Design, develop and test mechanical, electrical, electronic, and electromechanical systems for autonomous driverless products
* Lead the product design and development processes with practical experience in planning and conducting multiple phases of the HW lifecycle: requirements, design, development, integration, and validation/verification
* Lead the development of mechatronic validation and verification tests and undertake testing of new and existing products
* Clear technical report writing including installation, operating procedures, quality control procedures, test procedures and validation/ verification plan
* Understanding of hazard analysis and risk assessment, problem and decision analyses as well as development analyses, such as FMEA, QFD, value analyses
What are we looking for?
* Bachelor's or Master’s in Mechatronics engineering or equivalent, or demonstratable relevant experience
* Knowledge of system design, interface specification and system level integration and fault finding
* Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance: for example: EN 13766, EN 301, EN 61508, EN 12100, RED, Machineries, PUWER
* Ability to design electrical circuits/enclosures to the Low Voltage Directive, EMC directive & Machinery Directive ensuring compliance to industrial or automotive standards
* Experience of bringing complex products to production readiness and continuous improvement roadmaps once in production
