Our Support Services are always on hand to offer advice and guidance to colleagues across our business. Our Legal team are part of this, acting as the key relationship contact for the Society’s appointed external counsel on all legal matters, driving quality, value and accountability to ensure delivery of a best-in-class service to the Society. An exciting opportunity has now arisen for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our team. This role will be based at our Support Centre in Lincoln but we are open to applications from candidates who are looking for either flexible or hybrid working approaches. In this role, you'll provide professional support and guidance on a range of legal matters and share best practice across our Society. You'll be involved in reviewing, drafting and negotiating a wide range of property transaction documents to support the management and development of the Society’s extensive property portfolio, which includes commercial leases, renewals, licences, assignments and development related agreements. You’ll be working closely with our in-house Property team and advising them on a broad range of legal issues, as well as working alongside other colleagues in the Corporate Confidence and Assurance team to ensure requests for advice and support are dealt with in a timely manner. INDHP About You To be considered for this role, you'll need to show us: 6-8 years plus PQE, ideally working within commercial property (in private practice or in-house). A basic knowledge of planning frameworks, construction law, affordable/social housing arrangements and/or competition law would be advantageous. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, focussed and can handle a varied caseload with minimal supervision. Collaborative, with a strong ability to communicate and business partner with those who are not specialists in this area. Able to be pragmatic with the ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives and operational effectiveness. Strategic thinker able to view transactions and schemes within the broader context of the Society’s purpose and longer-term portfolio objectives. You'll be able to show us excellent verbal and written communication skills, enjoy working with people and be able to work in a confident manner to deliver results. You'll be organised, methodical and able to maintain accurate records, demonstrate good time management with the ability to work under pressure and prioritise as necessary.
