Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Senior Care Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality care to residents in a care home setting, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. You will work closely with residents to support their daily activities and assist them in maintaining their independence. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a commitment to delivering exceptional care. The candidate will need at least a Level 2 Diploma/NVQ in Health and Social Care and will need to have at least 2 years senior experience.
Responsible To: Deputy Manager
Purpose:
* Support the home manager and his or her Deputy in all aspects of the home’s management, including taking temporary complete charge during the absence of the Home manager or their Deputy.
* Supervise and participate in the delivery of care to the residents.
* Lead on the responsibility of residents' individual care documentation ensuring a person-centred approach.
* Help train junior members of staff in all aspects of their work in the home.
* Follow company policy and procedures.
* Provide effective leadership for care staff through supervision, support, and mentoring in all aspects of care.
* Be responsible for the administration of medication.
* Work effectively with others within the home to ensure that residents' needs are met.
* Support senior members of staff in all aspects of the home's management.
Main Responsibilities/Requirements:
1. Work at all times within the guidelines of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Employee Handbook, and Company Policy and Procedure.
2. Attend and contribute to staff meetings when required.
3. Maintain confidentiality on all aspects of care and your work within the home, including when using social networking systems.
4. Have a working knowledge of the home's policies and procedures in respect to your job.
5. Be approachable and supportive to staff and managers.
6. Attend appropriate training and development sessions as agreed with the Manager.
7. Carry out any reasonable duties as requested by the Manager.
8. Uphold and promote equal opportunities in employment practice and service delivery.
Resident Care and Support:
1. Actively participate and supervise in the delivery of care to the residents to ensure that their physical, social, intellectual, and emotional needs are met, ensuring dignity, choice, independence, and respect.
2. Be responsible with the team for the preparation, implementation, review, and update of all residents' care plans in line with their personal wishes and preferences.
3. Monitor each resident's health needs by ensuring access to NHS healthcare services and monitoring health-related care documentation assessments.
4. Ensure residents' choice and independence are respected through appropriate risk management and accurate record-keeping.
5. Encourage residents to be involved in the Home and participate in activities to remain emotionally and intellectually stimulated.
6. Assist as required with social functions that take place at the Home.
7. Support and work closely with families and friends, offering them professional and emotional support.
8. Administer prescribed medication to residents and assist in the management of an effective system for the safe control and administration of medication.
Staff Support:
1. Effectively lead, motivate, and support care staff via induction and support of new care staff.
2. Provide effective supervision and identify training and additional support needs.
3. Assist staff to complete all documentation as directed.
4. Monitor staff performance and report any issues to the deputy manager.
General Duties:
1. Understand and observe all relevant regulations and company policies and procedures.
2. Be familiar with the administrative records of the Home and ensure that all records are kept up to date.
3. Follow appropriate procedures in the event of accidents/emergencies (e.g., fire, missing residents).
4. Ensure the home is secure at all times.
5. Report and advise the relevant person with respect to repairs and maintenance in the home.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £12.59-£14.59 per hour
