About the Role:We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to join our team in the Leeds Kirkstall area to provide personalized care for a service user in their mid-fifties with spastic quadriplegia and intractable epilepsy. As a support worker, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the service user's quality of life. Your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting the service user in their daily activities, promoting their independence and well-being.
* Assisting with personal care and providing companionship.
* Supporting the service user during community outings and ensuring their safety at all times.
* Building a positive relationship with the service user, understanding their needs, and providing emotional support.
Specific Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 support for the service user in the community and 2:1 support at home.
* Be attentive to the service user's communication and emotional needs, offering support and understanding.
* Manage challenging behaviours calmly and effectively, ensuring the service user's well-being.
* Promote independence through genuine interaction and support.
* Deliver social and personal care utilizing a person-centred approach tailored to the service user's individual needs and desires.
* Maintain a safe environment through the utilization of support plans and person-centred risk assessments.
* Respect the confidential nature of the work.
* Value the service user's well-being and safeguard from abuse, ensuring that any safeguarding concerns are reported.
Requirements:To be successful in this role, you should have:
* Experience: Previous experience working with individuals with autism and complex health requirements.
* Must have at least 6 months UK care experience and Right to work in the UK.
* An up-to-date DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service – Should you need to apply for a new DBS we can support you with this.
* An up-to-date CV with all employment history.
* To be able to commit to an assignment, to ensure structure and stability for the service user.
* Skills: Excellent communication skills, empathy, and an understanding approach.
* Availability: Flexibility to work shifts, including weekdays, waking nights, and weekends.
