Role
We currently have a vacancy for a Medical Receptionist for a minimum of 27.5 hours per week. We are looking for a resilient, hardworking, enthusiastic, flexible person to join our professional team, who are willing to learn and offer ideas.
Excellent verbal communication, a can-do attitude, and written communication skills are a must as you will be dealing with the public both on the phone and face-to-face at the desk. Strong resilience is necessary, as you will encounter challenging behaviours. You must be able to accurately deal with patient data in line with Data Protection Legislation.
The ideal candidates will have the following skills:

The post holder will also be expected to be flexible and available to cover annual leave for any team member in the Admin Team or Reception Team within the working hours of 7.30am-6.30pm as required by the practice. You may also be required to work from our Newington branch.
Duties include (see job description on NHS jobs for full details):
* Opening of premises, restoring telephones, answer phones, computers, etc., checking that the premises are in order. Ensure that all necessary preparations are made to receive patients.
* Ensuring that consulting rooms are fully stocked and equipped.
* Ensuring that consulting rooms are ventilated, and that the waiting room and reception are tidy, leaving messages to enable a smooth handover to other staff.
* Securing the premises at the end of surgery, checking that windows are closed, and the security alarm is set so that the premises are totally secure.
Reception:
* Greeting patients upon arrival, dealing with all queries, requests, booking appointments, and all queries that arise.
* Taking down accurately all telephone requests from patients wishing to speak to or see a doctor, nurse, etc., and relaying in a timely, accurate manner.
* Entering patient information onto the computer as required.
* Advising patients of relevant charges for private services, accepting payment, and issuing receipts for the same.

Immunisations
It is a requirement of this role that you have had the following immunisations and must provide proof of vaccination to the surgery if you are successful in the role (this can be obtained from your GP):
* Tetanus
* Diphtheria
* Measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR)
You may also be required to have a Hep B vaccination.
