Position Summary We currently have a brilliant opportunity to join the Supply Chain team at York as an LGV Driver Apprentice. A day in the life As part of the 13-month apprenticeship, you will receive comprehensive training and hands-on experience to become a qualified Class 1 LGV driver. The opportunity to work with our fleet of LNG, HVO and EV vehicles and cutting-edge technology. Learn to drive safely in accordance with the law, as well as learning about the importance of timeliness, workplace safety and customer service. You will be exposed to a wide range of logistics operations, allowing you to gain valuable insights and experience in various aspects of the field including showing you how loads are planned, scheduled and executed, as well as show you what can and does go wrong during all stages of the end-to-end process. You will be the first point of contact in many cases as the driver onsite, for customer queries regarding load safety and documentation. The successful individual needs to have excellent communication skills, a can-do attitude and problem-solving mindset. If you are successful in your apprenticeship, the future role could be on a 4 on 4 off shift basis in line with current working patterns, within the Own Fleet Operation based in York. The role may also require Night(s) away from base as part of the driving role. What will make you successful We are looking for someone that is comfortable working as part of a team whilst also comfortable with working alone with a desire to work towards resolution when issue arise. The successful candidate will need to meet the criteria as laid out in Apprenticeship Standard ( www.instituteofapprenticeships.org/apprenticeship-standards/large-goods-vehicle-lgv-driver-c-plus-e-v1-2 ), have a flexible approach to working hours and the ability to work well as part of a wider team. Eligibility Requirements - UK Driving Licence (Class B) - 2:2 PDP/DPR rating for the previous year - Level 2 Maths & English (Equivalent to Grade 4 or C at GCSE) - Not already qualified to perform the role of LGV Driver - No active Disciplinary or Grievance sanctions - Absence % no exceeding site target (3%) - Must be eligible for Apprenticeship funding (no prior training in HGV arena - as advised by apprenticeship provider) You will need to demonstrate the following: - High degree of accuracy - Ability to demonstrate a customer service mindset - Working proactively to identify potential problems and come up with solutions - Knowledge of Windows systems and preferably SAP - Some understanding of UK road legislation would be an advantage. - Good Communication Skills - Experience in customer focused role would be an advantage - Good UK Geographical knowledge would be an advantage. - You will be required to provide copies of your GCSE (or equivalent) certificates This is a great opportunity to work within a talented and dedicated team, in what will be a challenging role.
