Our client, a specialist Rail & Civil Engineering subcontractor within the Construction sector, is currently looking for Supervisors (Or Gangers / Foreman) to join their Rail team on a permanent basis. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that site-based works are carried out safely and effectively, managing the labour force, any associated subcontract trades, as well as getting involved with works yourself, working as a team.
You will be required to pick up any equipment needed from the regional depot in Maidstone, prior to travelling to site-based projects across the Kent and Sussex Rail Routes, to complete works. Our client maintains drainage assets for Network Rail, anywhere that an asset crosses / follows the rail line, where workload includes but is not limited to: drainage and sewage inspections/surveys/maintenance (visual and CCTV surveying through to drain relining - CIPP, UV Lining etc), drainage installation, related embankment earthworks, culvert remediation, pipe jacking, steelwork / stairways, scaffolding and general groundworks – concreting, slabbing, finishings etc.
Due to the nature of work, much of which is completed out of hours / throughout the night / at weekends, overtime is available and can help to boost your earnings. (Please ask for more information on overtime rates).
Daily duties will include but are not limited to:
1. Overseeing & motivating internal workforce on site, including any subcontractor workforce (Trades workers).
2. Working to programme of work and work package plans.
3. Amending risk assessments and site paperwork where required.
4. Ordering of plant and materials through regional depot.
5. Responsible for producing Rail diary reports.
6. Brief out Toolbox talks as required.
7. Responsible for monitoring and implementing Health & Safety procedures on site.
8. Ensuring works are completed in a timely manner.
Candidates will ideally:
1. Have worked in a similar role before, as a Supervisor / Ganger / Foreman, delivering drainage works within the rail sectors, amongst other civil engineering / groundworks.
2. Have relevant qualifications such as PTS, SSSTS or SMSTS, CPCS etc.
3. Be able to manage trades workforce and supervise works on site.
4. Be able to oversee subcontractor trade staff, as and when required.
5. Be able to fill out site paperwork efficiently, reporting to Project Management staff as required.
6. Have strong knowledge of related HSQE.
7. Have strong communication and organisation skills.
