To be successful in the role youll need: Experience within a care or education workplace setting (not essential but desirable) First-hand experience of either complex needs, learning disabilities, sensory impairments or autistic spectrum conditions. Experience of supporting either children or young people with challenging behaviour Enthusiasm, determination and resilience Empathy and self-awareness Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents, and colleagues Learning Support Assistant Role Outline: You will work on a one-to-one basis supporting the day-to-day learning of the students within the setting and provide any other support they may require through the day. The students in the college are aged between 19 and 25 years old. The role shall include Assisting the teacher with planning and preparation of resources and programmes including differentiation for the individual needs of learners in the class/group Actively support all students in the full range of curriculum activities across the college/school including but not limited to: Classroom based lessons Physical lessons including swimming, cycling and outdoor activities Working with students with Autism, multi-sensory impairments, physical disabilities, severe learning difficulties and those with non-verbal communication needs, to enhance their communication skills, social skills, ability to think flexibly and to problem-solve. Supporting students with challenging behaviour, personal care and supporting those with physical disabilities. Some students may require support from mobility aids and disability aids including hoists and wheelchairs.
