Prior's Court was set up by Founding Patron Dame Stephanie Shirley, whose vision of a centre of excellence for children with autism became reality with the opening of Prior's Court School in 1999. We have since grown to support around 90 young people with autism aged between 5-25 years with the opening of Prior's Court Young Adult Provision in 2011.
Since opening, our support team has grown from around 20 to 500 and we have built a reputation as a leading edge educational, vocational, and residential facility for young people with autism. We are situated on 50 acres of parkland with various facilities including accommodation for our young people, a school with a wide range of facilities and offices.
Job Description
The finance team are excited to be looking for a Financial Controller to join their team. We are ideally looking for an ACCA/CIMA/ACA or QBE who has substantial experience of management accounts, financial processing, budgeting and reporting alongside strong organisational skills coupled with the ability to thrive in a pressurised busy environment and manage a small team.
The primary objective is to deliver accurate and timely reporting of the financial transactions to management and statutory accounts level of Prior's Court Foundation and Prior's Court Services Ltd. Focusing on delivering system improvements to drive operational efficiencies within finance and prepare the annual budget and support ongoing organisational forecasting and strategic planning.
Responsibilities
* Produce monthly managements account and commentary for budget holders and trustees.
* Ensure accurate accounts are kept and manage a team of two: Junior Accountant and Finance Apprentice who will carry out the day to day transactions within the finance team.
* Regularly review, adapt and update modelling tools to support the organisations current and future strategic planning.
* Ensure successful implementation of SAGE Intact and process efficiencies are realised.
* Review financial systems and processes to improve efficiency.
* Support the Director of Finance and budget holders in the annual budgeting and planning processes taking the lead on budget preparation and budget holder review.
* Manage the completion of the annual audit, prepare all schedules and notes for the annual statutory accounts.
* Complete quarterly VAT returns - including partial exemption.
* Operating bank accounts - income, payments and reconciliation.
* Ensure financial controls and processes in place are complied with.
* Complete monthly returns for the Office of National Statistics.
This is a full-time predominantly onsite position (37.5 hours per week) with the possibility of working 1 day remotely.
Qualifications
CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent; we would consider qualified by experience if substantial management accounts experience.
