Job Summary
The post holder is required to work across all Special Processes Operations functions to include Heat Treatment, Shot blast, Bore blast, Brinell and Finishing. The individual must be able to respond quickly to the needs of the business and embrace change through team working, effective housekeeping, flexibility and continuous improvement including WEBTOOL Planning and NADCAP adherence.
Key Objectives of the Role:
1. Conduct the Special Processes Operations, as required, across the following departments - Heat treat loader, Shot blast, Bore blast, Brinell, Fettling, FLT capability and Finish Marking.
2. Work to the agreed Standard Operating Procedures – Methods of Manufacture as outlined in the quality manual and achieving departmental criteria.
3. Ensure that maximum throughput is maintained at all times by reporting breakdowns to maintenance, using the correct reporting and logging process.
4. Be fully aware of the departmental Key Operating Targets.
5. Ensure that training/coaching is delivered to all new operators and that they are fully conversant with the Special Processes Operations.
6. The loading and unloading of vehicles, where trained and applicable, inclusive of moving product/raw materials around the business.
7. Ensure all paperwork/route cards in relation to the department is correctly compiled, stamped and booked off in accordance with procedures.
8. Ensure that WIP is completed on a daily basis and all paperwork/route cards in relation to the department are correctly compiled.
9. Maintain the daily Total Productive Maintenance programme and support the Business Improvement Ideas programme.
10. Complete daily equipment and Safety checks in line with company procedures.
11. Ensure furnaces are programmed, charged and discharged according to the correct SOP’s.
12. Ensure furnace loading charts are correctly completed and ensure the furnace chart is marked with reference to time of start and finish of job.
13. Ensure the best utilisation of furnaces following the production schedule.
14. Ensure that data entry, Tropos and heat treatment log book is correctly administered.
15. Maintain the daily PPM /TPM programme.
16. Embrace any new process/training that improves the productivity of the business.
17. Safe build and stripping of charges.
18. Hardness testing to ensure product meets required standard.
19. Any other adhoc duties as required.
20. Redeployment to alternative work when required.
The Applicant:
1. Previous experience on Special Process (Heat Treatment) activities is essential.
2. Experience of Shot blast, Bore blast, Brinell incorporating Aerospace, Commercial and Finish Marking is desirable.
3. Previous experience of ability to plan, organise and coordinate work through heat treat, including safe operating practices would be beneficial.
4. Fork Lift Truck and Overhead Crane Licence experience is essential.
5. Abrasive Wheels Course would be desirable.
