SEN Teaching Assistant Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire Salary: £83 - £100 per day Start Date: January 2025 Contract Type: Full-Time GSL Education are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a Client Secondary School providing high-quality care and support to students with a diverse range of needs in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. About the School: The school was rated as “Good” by Ofsted in 2024. The school supports a large number of students with a range of Special Needs and Disabilities. They have a comprehensive pastoral framework based on a caring ideology that fosters healthy relationships by promoting high standards and encouraged challenge. With an emphasis on communication and cognition, the school's Semi-Formal curriculum is broken down into six sections. In Key Stages 3 and 4, their goal is to promote independence and communication through relevant, real-world experiences, with a focus on the transference of skills. Throughout the academic year, the school hosts a number of signature events as part of its careers program. They pride ourselves on delivering tailored education that meets the unique needs of each student, fostering their academic, social, and emotional development. SEN Teaching Assistants Responsibilities: Work 1:1 or in small groups with students who have complex learning needs. Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans. Implement tailored communication techniques and work with non-verbal communication methods. Encourage independence and provide personal care assistance if needed. Support the teacher in preparing and delivering activities. Be involved in assessing the students’ work and providing feedback. Provide feedback on child’s progress to parent and relevant staff at the school. SEN Teaching Assistants Requirements: Must hold the Right to Work in the UK. Experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant. Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2/3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning, are desirable. Have patience, empathy, and a positive approach to helping children. Knowledge of de-escalation strategies and techniques to manage challenging behavior is advantageous. Hold a Child only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
