80820 - Voltage Technician
The Voltage Technician will report to the Field Staff Supervisor and will work within Network Operations, Eastern Region, based in our Lea Valley Area office. You will be a permanent employee.
You will attract a salary of £39,283, outer London weighting of £2,592.79, a network payment of £712.10 per annum, and a bonus at Level 3%.
Job Purpose:
To investigate voltage complaints to determine if the supply voltage is within statutory limits and recommend corrective actions. Conduct EMF surveys, work with customers to schedule appointments, and report findings following Electricity Guaranteed Standards and Internal Standards. Perform site surveys and collaborate with Field Engineers to organize and plan work to meet customer expectations.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Arrange and maintain appointments with customers in accordance with EGS 5 & EGS 8 standards.
2. Investigate voltage complaints to verify if the supply voltage exceeds statutory limits.
3. Check network operational arrangements.
4. Install and download recording equipment.
5. Interpret data from recording equipment and recommend corrective actions.
6. Keep customers informed about investigation progress and communicate outcomes.
7. Collaborate with Field Engineers and Network Planners to address issues and ensure compliance with EIS 5 standards.
8. Assist with load-related issues identified through fault processes.
9. Participate in surveying, planning minor projects, and handling general enquiries.
10. Provide information for reporting on Electricity Guaranteed Standards and Internal Standards.
11. Conduct EMF surveys and site assessments, including pre-work evaluations.
Nature and Scope:
The Voltage Technician reports to the Field Staff Supervisor. The role involves investigating complaints and conducting surveys within the timescales specified in EGS and EIS standards. Responsibilities include customer communication, network checks, equipment installation and interpretation, and planning rectification work. The technician collaborates with Field Engineers and Network Planners to resolve issues promptly and effectively, ensuring customer satisfaction.
They will also communicate survey results to customers and support Business Services in accurate reporting for standards compliance.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
Mandatory:
* Understanding of the electricity network.
* City & Guilds 2322 qualification.
* Authorization to Switch and Link on the LV network.
* Proficiency with mobile technologies and computers.
* Ability to interpret graphs and data.
* Problem-solving skills.
* Organizational skills.
Desirable:
* ONC qualification.
