We are now recruiting for a Senior Customs & Trade Manager (TSS). This role will be based in Northern Ireland.
Job Brief
You will be working for CIOE&IT business solutions to lead on Trader Support Service (TSS v2 – TSS retender) with senior stakeholders internally and externally with public and private sector including but not limited to: Government agencies, consultancy firms, technology companies and industry bodies in NI and GB.
You will also be responsible for delivery of CIOE&IT products and services relative to high end advisory (consultancy) programmes in customs and trade.
As well as being Subject Matter Expert in CIOE&IT on International VAT, e-commerce trade and SAP GTS.
Role and Responsibilities
The main function of this job is to lead Chartered Institute's response to TSS v2 (TSS re-tender) including engagement with key stakeholders in the public and private sector. This will include delivery of solutions internally and in executive engagement with consultancy firms, technology providers and logistics service providers.
The roleholder will also be responsible for delivery of high value trade and customs advisory (consultancy) programme especially in Northern Ireland and Ireland, and act as a subject matter in the organisation for International VAT, E-Commerce, and SAP GTS.
The roleholder will be recognised as a leading expert in customs and trade in Northern Ireland.
Understanding of Irish customs procedures is also beneficial.
* Deep understanding of customs and trade operations in Northern Ireland and a background of having worked with businesses in Northern Ireland trading with Great Britain, the European Union and Rest of the World.
* Engaging effectively with executive and senior stakeholders in private sector companies, consultancy firms, government, and trade bodies.
* Delivery of presentations and industry papers as a recognised trade and customs specialist, representing the Chartered Institute of Export and International Trade. Examples of trade topics to include but not limited to Customs facilitations, Trade facilitation and compliance, Rules of Origin, HS codes, ICS 2, CERTEX and developing software provision.
* Public speaking engagements on behalf of the Institute at industry and government events on matters specific to trade and customs, both face to face and through online webinars and podcasts.
* To represent the Institute as a leading Customs and Trade specialist at relevant industry and certain government forums especially in Northern Ireland and Ireland.
* To play a leading role in further developing the Chartered Institute’s strategy and product and proposition development in the area of customs and trade.
* Review trade and customs papers from industry, consultancy firms and trade and customs software providers and trade compliance providers. This includes but is not limited to the impact of Windsor Framework and dual market access, and EU legislation on the island of Ireland.
* Deal with urgent enquiries raised by key stakeholders.
* To act as a National and Regional Champion for the Chartered Institute of Export and International Trade, engaging with key stakeholders and identifying opportunities to support and grow the Chartered Institute membership and learning base.
* To remain at the leading edge of trade and customs policy and procedures in the UK and Internationally.
* To act as an ambassador for the function and the organisation in terms of diligent and ethical conduct and performance.
* To communicate in an articulate, professional, and informed manner across all levels of the business, both internally and externally.
* To maintain the integrity of the business through the accurate and timely recording of all relevant data.
* Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with a changing environment nationally and globally, and a proactive business function.
