Gearbox Fitter – About the role:
The Gearbox Fitter will provide support to the gearbox repair department by dismantling and assembling all types of industrial gearboxes while providing a detailed inspection report highlighting operational issues with the machine being assessed.
Main Duties:
1. Involvement in day-to-day workshop activities in relation to quality, H&S, and environmental activities.
2. Dismantling of all types of gearboxes and producing concise, accurate reports for management.
3. Assembling gearboxes accurately so they are ready for installation.
4. Interpreting engineering data and documentation such as engineering drawings, technical data, and computer-generated programmes.
5. Working under minimum supervision, taking responsibility for the quality and accuracy of your work.
6. Being proactive in finding solutions to problems and identifying areas for improving the business.
7. Ensuring standard work practices and procedures are being followed.
8. Responding to emergency situations.

Where a reasonable amendment to the main responsibilities of the role is necessary, you will be expected to undertake these additional duties as required for the successful completion of the job.
What we need from you:
1. Apprenticeship in an associated field or adequate experience.
2. Health & safety, environmental, or quality training would be an advantage but not essential.
3. Working knowledge of various types of gearboxes.
4. Ability to work to instruction and on your own initiative.
5. Selecting and using a range of measuring and testing equipment to check components are to the required quality and accuracy.
6. Reading and interpreting engineering data.
7. Demonstrating problem-solving skills to solve and repair issues efficiently and effectively.
