The Role As an Operations Trainer, you will be responsible for delivering a wide range of training programs that cover key areas such as production processes, technical and machine operation, health and safety, and compliance with food safety standards. Your role will blend hands-on, shop-floor training with classroom sessions, e-learning, and coaching to ensure our workforce is fully prepared to meet production goals while maintaining high safety and quality standards. You will work closely with the Learning and Development Manager to ensure that training programs are aligned with business needs, while continuously assessing and improving training effectiveness. Your practical expertise will help translate complex procedures into easy-to-understand, engaging training experiences for our teams. Responsibilities include: Delivering hands-on, practical training directly on the factory floor, ensuring employees are proficient in machinery operation, production processes, and safety protocols. Confidently engage all learners in structured learner-centered training, primarily of ‘content-driven’ training resources. Interact with learners of varying abilities, using a broad range of techniques and carefully planned and executed questioning techniques. Conducting formal classroom-based training on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety, and compliance (e.g., HACCP, BRC). Supporting the L&D Coordinator to organise training schedules, maintain training records, and track employee certifications through our LMS and external providers. Collaborating with the L&D Manager to design and update training materials, including e-learning modules, SOP documentation, and training presentations. Providing on-the-job coaching and mentoring to employees, ensuring they are confident in applying skills in real-time production scenarios. Monitoring and assessing employee progress during and after training sessions, providing feedback to both employees and the L&D team. Ensuring all training programs comply with industry regulations, including food safety, health and safety, and quality standards. Supporting continuous improvement by gathering feedback on training effectiveness and recommending enhancements to the L&D Coordinator and Manager. Assisting the L&D Coordinator with the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring they receive the necessary training and support to integrate into the factory environment. Requirements Experience: Proven experience in a training or instructional role within a manufacturing or operational environment. Strong background in delivering hands-on, practical training, particularly in machinery operation, production processes, and safety compliance. Experience working within a training team, working closely with L&D professionals to align training programs with business goals. Knowledge: In-depth understanding of food safety regulations (HACCP, BRC) and health and safety standards in a factory setting. Familiarity with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the ability to translate them into effective training content. Proficiency in using Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms for blended learning. Solid knowledge of adult learning principles and training theories (e.g., Kolb’s Learning Cycle, ADDIE, or Kirkpatrick's Model) and how to apply them in practical, real-world settings. Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms for implementing blended learning strategies. Skills: Use sound questioning and active listening skills to understand requirements and establish root causes i.e. establishing that it really is a learning/training need, before developing an L&D solution. Ability to Identify and analyse learning needs and address individual capability and learning gaps. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and motivate employees at all levels. Strong coaching and mentoring abilities, with the capacity to provide constructive feedback and guidance. Well-organised, with strong time management skills and the ability to handle multiple training programs simultaneously. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant software for training coordination, documentation, and reporting.
