Salary: £56,509 per annum
Hours: Full time
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Science and Technology Facilities Council, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory Harwell, Oxfordshire
Come and do the kind of engineering that made you want to be an engineer. Stretch your technical skills while enabling the advancement of humanities understanding of materials. Promote sustainability and create new materials and, alongside world-leading scientists and technologists, shape projects that improve lives, in the UK and far beyond. Put simply, come and discover the impact you can make when you are equipped, encouraged and inspired to perform to your very best!
As part of the ISIS Design Division, the Mechatronics team specify, design, and deliver moving equipment and systems to meet the requirements of our scientists. This involves the application of a broad range of engineering expertise including mechanical, electrical, safety, and control in collaboration with mechanical, electrical, and project design and operational teams.
These systems are broad in scope from miniature stepper driven linear axes to complex synchronised servo systems, pneumatically driven stages, and industrial robots. They typically require high levels of precision and repeatability, in challenging environments – whether that’s vacuum, magnetic fields, or radiation, and often have access requirements that are challenging for functional safety.
We have two Senior Mechatronics Engineer positions available in the team.
