What you’ll do at work In this apprenticeship, you will be working on a range of buses and coaches to learn automotive skills to a nationally recognised standard - this is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and hardworking person to take their first steps in the automotive industry. There is a UK skills shortage within the automotive sector, so you will be among the next generation of body shop technicians. You will - understand the fundamentals of existing and emerging mechanical vehicle design and systems carry out routine mechanical servicing, planned preventative maintenance and “health checks alongside routine vehicle servicing inspect, diagnose and repair braking systems use diagnostic equipment and software to diagnose and rectify located faults on mechanical components Salary : £19.099 per annum Base: Newquay, Cornwall Hours: Fulltime equivalent Training An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation and at least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying. College or training organisation Apprenticeship offered through S & B AUTOMOTIVE ACADEMY LIMITED Your training course Bus and Coach Engineering Technician (level 3) which is an equivalent to A level. Your training plan S&B Automotive Academy is a specialist apprenticeship training provider located in Bedminster, Bristol. The apprentice will work in Cormac’s technical workshop to develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours in relation to Bus & Coach apprenticeship standard. The apprentice will be required to commute to S&B’s Academy to attend 7 weekly training blocks a year throughout the duration of the apprenticeship. Apprentices are assigned a workplace mentor and a college development coach who will offer support, advice, and guidance by monitoring progress using S&B’s tailored electronic logbook which both employer and the apprentice can access anytime. Apprentices take a Gateway Assessment at the end of every year to progress onto the next phase of training until the completion of the End Point Assessment. More training information To be considered for this apprenticeship you must have GCSEs, Functional Skills or Key Skills at grade C/4 or above in English and maths (or equivalent), predicated grades are accepted, but applicants will need to complete an initial assessment. Relevant work experience or knowledge is beneficial but not essential.
