Instrumentation Technician - Bacton - £41,265 to £48,547 (£50k-£60k OTE)
National Gas has an exciting and important role in achieving net zero and in leading a fair energy transition for the UK. We will do this by developing the green gas system of tomorrow, while delivering the natural gas needs of today.
Our gas Terminals are fundamental to the United Kingdom economy and energy demands. We take pride in ensuring the safe, efficient, reliable, and flexible supply of natural gas from the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) and Norway, providing key interfaces between UK / EU gas supplies.
About The Role
Are you a multi-skilled problem solver who people can count on? If so, we’re looking for a co-worker like you!
This role is based at Bacton which is an upper tier COMAH site meaning the highest standards and all measures necessary are expected to be maintained.
We are looking for an Instrumentation Technician, you will take on the installation, inspection, commissioning, operation, repair, and maintenance of various equipment, as well as other operational duties at Bacton Gas Terminal.
You may be required to participate in a standby rota 1 week in every 4 dealing with various faults for which you will get additional compensation.
Working as part of our Operations Team, you will support project work as required and the commissioning of new assets on the system. You will oversee and inspect work carried out by others.
This role will help protect and maintain the high-pressure systems at one of our National Gas terminals. These sites are the engines that take the gas from offshore and introduce it into our National Transmission System straight to our customers.
What we are looking for
We recognise we are a niche company, therefore don't worry if you do not meet 100% of the requirements because we know that there is a wealth of transferable skills out there such as experience with PLC's, Pressure’s, Temperature’s, fire and gas, understanding of safe systems of work and legislation.
You will have previously completed an apprenticeship (or other recognised training scheme) and hold a BTEC National Certificate (or equivalent City & Guilds NVQ/SVQ Level 3) in an Instrumentation or Control Systems discipline.
You will have worked or be working in industries such as the broader Utilities, Military or Aviation.
We work in hazardous areas, so knowledge of health and safety is key. It would be desirable for you to have an in-date CompEx (1-4) certificate; if not, it is something we could consider putting you through.
