Job summary We are looking for a proactive leader with experience of Practice Education and FiCare within a neonatal setting, with an ability to change and adapt their teaching style and subject matter according to service needs. The post holder will lead on the learning and development agenda for the specialty, providing a professional and responsive service inclusive of all relevant staff members, which promotes safety and equality of opportunity for all staff. The post holder will ensure that education provision meets service requirements, and that the specialty meets its statutory and contractual obligations and fosters a climate where practice development and education become integral to the education of all staff. The post holder will also play a key role in optimising the clinical environment using a Family Integrated Care (Ficare) framework such as BAPM Framework for Practice, collaborating with Allied Health Professions and the wider MDT on FiCare education, teaching and training. Main duties of the job To work in close collaboration with the Matron and Lead Consultants to identify training and education requirements for all levels of staff. To carry out training needs analysis and develop appropriate training plans and recommendations to fill the skills and knowledge gap. To maintain personal clinical competence and credibility delivering Neonatal care. To ensure that neonatal care meets all CQC and peer review training requirements including mandatory training and medical device training. To maintain skills and competencies for Registered Nurses/Midwives in line with local and national requirements. To work in collaboration with team leaders and staff to ensure the education component of staff development plan is achieved in required time frame. Responsibility for planning and delivery of multi-disciplinary and multi-professional training, such as SIM and skills and mandatory training, incorporating local and national themes to illustrate areas for improvement. To act as a Practice Assessor (in line with NMC Guidance for Students) and as an appraiser/line manager to clinicians. Provide individualised situated support in a clinical environment for staff, students, apprentices, and return-to practice learners. 20% of the role is to work with individual staff and teams, patient facing, to ensure delivery of safe and effective practice in the pursuit of clinical excellence, and to develop effective systems of team working.
