SLR presents an exciting career opportunity for an early-career professional with some experience to join our adept hydrology and hydrogeology team in London. This position is ideally suited for a proactive general hydrologist that can engage in fieldwork, conduct Flood Risk Assessments, formulate drainage strategies, and carry out other water-related studies and evaluations.
Our team engages in a wide array of projects spanning commercial and residential development, as well as industrial and energy initiatives. With a workforce of over 60 experts working at a national level, our hydrology and hydrogeology team provides water environment solutions across diverse sectors.
Situated in our dynamic London office, this position presents an opportunity to collaborate with professionals from various technical teams, including ESG, ecology, planning, and ESIA. About You
We are looking for a candidate:
1. Thrives in a team environment, through a mixture of independent and co-dependent working,
2. Able to draft technical reports and seek guidance as you need,
3. Able to problem-solve solutions in the field
4. Has some experience of using software for drainage design preferably in Flow Causeway
5. Is professional and can communicate effectively
6. Holds a Masters level qualification in hydrology, environmental engineering or a similar field. Equivalent experience or qualifications obtained through non-formal education or self-directed learning are also valued.
7. Holds a full, current driving licence valid in the UK and is comfortable driving for site visits.

Working alongside Technical Directors, Principals and Associates in hydrology and flood risk, the successful candidate will be required to prepare, organise and undertake a range of tasks including flood risk assessments, surface water drainage design, site walkover surveys, supervising site investigations, water quality monitoring, interpretation of monitoring data, preparing hydrological risk assessments and chapters for Environmental Impact Assessment Reports.
This role may involve projects and site investigations across the UK and internationally and therefore may include infrequent periods of working away from home for several days at a time.
