Sea & Air Freight Supervisor - Lichfield
Our client, an independent Freight Forwarder, is looking for a Sea & Air Freight Supervisor to join their team in Lichfield. You will be responsible for the team's delivery of operational activities, in accordance with targets set, to contribute to the achievement of the company vision and overall business objectives, reaching targets/KPIs set year on year. Consistently perform to high quality standards.
Overall Responsibility: Oversee the Sea and Air freight operators' main responsibility in completing important daily operation tasks predominantly for Sea and Air freight. You will carry out this role as well as oversee the activities of other team members.

Hours: Monday to Friday - 08:30am to 17:30pm*
*Hybrid working available after successful completion of 6-month probation (3 days in office)
Responsibilities:
1. Ensure that productivity and profitability goals for the team are met.
2. Have a fundamental understanding of our operational systems.
3. Provide local/external market conditions feedback on the Sea and Air industry to the Operations Director for the monthly operational board meeting.
4. Utilise Top 10 Accounts report to evaluate the development of your departmental client base and work towards a balanced customer base.
5. Quoting, covering, and inputting a range of Sea and Air freight shipments on our TMS.
6. Work closely with the UK department to arrange and handle more UK haulage in-house for Sea and Air shipments.
7. Obtain prices and solutions for Sea and Air freight business for prospects of other Sales BDM's.
8. Use carrier portals and other relevant software.
9. Monitor Sea and Air shipments, ensuring high levels of customer service with clients and suppliers.
10. Ensure effective use of the CRM system.
11. Log quotes and proactively chase them to convert to shipments.
12. Liaise with the customs department to complete customs documentation for Sea & Air shipments.
13. Proactively liaise with customers, agents, and suppliers.
Service Development:
1. Develop supplier/carrier relationships to ensure the best rates and service.
2. Source new suppliers/carriers and form new partnerships.
3. Participate in regular sales and departmental team meetings.
4. Assist in marketing activity to promote the service by email, mailshot, and calls.
5. Visit existing clients to further develop and strengthen relationships.
Compliance:
1. Promote compliance by following all company policies and regulations.
2. Communicate with the team to ensure awareness and understanding of policies and regulations.
3. Maintain a positive relationship with departmental managers and support compliance efforts and training.
Systems:
1. Implement new system changes and enhancements into your team.
2. Suggest system/process improvements.
3. Set a positive tone within your department.
Supervision:
1. Assist and train others in the team.
2. Be the first point of contact for queries in the team or customers for escalation.
3. Ensure the team is resourced effectively.
4. Resolve queries both operationally and administratively.
5. Handle more complicated inquiries or queries.
6. Collaborate closely with the Sea & Air Freight Development Manager.
7. Conduct regular performance management and continuous professional development.
Requirements:
1. Experience as a Supervisor in a freight forwarding setting for a UK-based forwarder.
2. Experience in Sea and Air freight.
3. Right to work in the UK.
