Commercial Manager Highways & Civil Engineering
A Commercial Manager is currently required to lead the Commercial team of a Global Civil Engineering Main Contractor. As an organisation, they currently undertake some of the UK's most iconic projects, including HS2, Hinkley Point C, and Crossrail. Currently operating across a number of sectors, to include Highways, Rail, Construction, and Build, with offices across the UK. Typical projects include station redevelopments, roads & sewers, foundations, infrastructure, major housing developments, and Highways.
Despite the current climate, the organisation has been very busy throughout the pandemic and is currently in an enviable position with a number of projects in the pipeline for the next 10 years. As a result, there is now an additional opportunity for an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the department and support the Commercial Director. Due to the nature of the work, you will need to demonstrate that you can build strong working relationships with the clients.
Key Duties:
1. Preparation of tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities
2. Track changes to the design and/or construction work and adjust budget accordingly
3. Perform risk, value management, and cost control
4. Allocate work to subcontractors
5. Provide advice on contractual claims
6. Analyse outcomes and write detailed progress reports
7. Value completed work and arrange payments
Experience:
1. Commercial related Degree or equivalent
2. Qualified or working towards RICS, CICES, or equivalent professional qualification
3. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products, especially Excel
4. Experience in providing commercial support to design and consulting and/or highways contracts (especially under NEC forms) would also be advantageous
5. Experience of successful main contract management supporting
6. Experience in supply chain procurement, management, and accounting
7. Appreciation of the records, approaches, and options for dispute resolution and avoidance
8. Experience in commercial and financial budgeting and reporting
9. Understands and promotes an inclusive working environment
