Contract type: Part Time (up to 30 hours per week) – Fixed Term (31/08/2025) Location: Kingston upon Thames, Kingston International Study Centre. Salary: £ 31,684.47 per annum The purpose of the role is to deliver highly effective classes on Chemistry and Biology modules on Foundation FHEQ Level 3 (Pre-undergraduate) programmes at Kingston International Study Centre (ISC). ABOUT THE ROLE Lead on the design, delivery and development of Kingston University ISC Chemistry and Biology modules. Plan, prepare and teach lessons as required by the ISC, teaching up to 25 hours per week, depending upon fractionality of post. Set, supervise and mark final examinations, as well as formative and summative assessments. Assess, record and report on the progress and attainment of students, and to communicate this to students via timely feedback and termly RPAG reports. Implement intervention strategies, as appropriate, to support students’ on-going learning throughout their programme of studies. Develop and regularly update schemes of work and teaching materials, including learning materials for the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Under the guidance of the Centre’s Leadership Team, contribute to student induction and other events as required from time to time. Consult with the Head of STEM about any problems occurring over academic matters or individual students. Notify and liaise with colleagues where necessary to ensure all students receive appropriate on-going welfare and progression support. Implement quality assurance procedures at module and teaching session level and contribute to the annual monitoring and review of courses, including writing Module Enhancement Plans. Attend and contribute to marking standardisation, moderation and other quality assurance meetings. Attend and participate in weekly departmental meetings, and regular all-staff meetings as required. Contribute to programme management as required by the Head of STEM or Head of Curriculum and Progression. Participate in the ISC and University governance structures, including attending all compulsory meetings. Keep accurate records of attendance at all classes. Maintain and submit accurate and timely records of teaching and other activities. Participate in arrangements for further training and professional development and maintain records of these sessions. Carry out any other duties as required from time to time by the Head of Subject or Head of Curriculum and Progression. ABOUT YOU Educated to degree level in a relevant subject. In possession of a formal teaching qualification (highly desirable). Able to teach an additional subject (highly desirable). Fluent in both spoken and written English. A talented, innovative and ambitious subject practitioner. An outstanding teacher with a proven track record of achieving the highest standards and improving students’ academic outcomes. Possess well-developed interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively. Be able to develop positive relationships with students that support excellent attributes towards learning. Demonstrate personal enthusiasm and commitment to subject(s) aimed at making a positive difference to students. Possess experience of working with international students who are non-native speakers of English.
