Senior SHEQ Advisor - Gas

Are you an experienced H&S professional with prior exposure to large scale civils and utilities projects and looking for a fresh opportunity?
We have an exciting new opportunity with our client, a well-established utility services provider with national coverage.
They are looking for an experienced and ambitious Senior H&S professional to work within their gas division, working on a range of projects as well as being able to support on other utilities divisions.
Key duties:
* Support the planning and promotion of health, safety, environment and quality programs.
* Engage and communicate with all operational staff on HSEQ matters.
* Monitor the health, safety, environment and quality performance on contracts and take necessary steps to improve standards.
* Carry out regular and continuous site, compound and CDM audits, which may involve occasional out of hours working, including weekends and nights.
* Ensure that CDM sites are compliant, and the relevant documentation is in place and current.
* Support in compiling, reviewing and revising project SHEQ documentation including CPPs, QMPs, Risk Registers, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and Emergency Plans.
* Ensure site notice boards are current and appropriately placed.
* Assist in the preparation of pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs) and tender documentation.
* Investigate accidents, incidents, utility damages and introduce preventative measures to prevent re-occurrence, compiling required reports in a timely manner for the SHEQ Manager and/or SHEQ Director.
* Ensure all staff under your influence have appropriate training in health, safety, quality and environmental matters, assisting managers in identifying training gaps.
* Ensure strict adherence to reporting and recording procedures for accidents and dangerous occurrences as required under RIDDOR.
* Provide specialist advice on the company's safety policy and procedures and compliance with statutory obligations throughout the company.
* Recommend disciplinary procedures where any member of operational staff fails to discharge their responsibilities regarding Health, Safety, Environment and Quality.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Previous experience working within utilities environments, preferably within the gas industry.
* NEBOSH/NCRQ Level 6 (NVQ Level 5 as a minimum standard).
* EUSR or CSCS in a related subject.
* NRSWA (SWQR).
* Working knowledge of HSG47.
* Proficient in Accident/Incident investigation & RCA.
* Proficient in data analysis & compiling Reports.
* Competent in core standard Microsoft Software.
