Experienced Senior Engineer to work for tier one contractor on the construction of a £90m 5 storey cold storage facility with a full robotics fitout.
About this Role:
Opportunity for an experienced Senior Engineer to join this busy national main contractor to manage the construction of a £90m new build steel framed cold storage facility in Avonmouth. The project is a high quality new build 5 storey cold storage facility with construction on site due to commence in the winter.
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing the project from the final preconstruction stages, detailed design development with the client, and throughout the construction which starts on site in the Winter through to handover in mid 2026.
You will lead your team holding ultimate responsibility for client liaison, design development, construction methodology and programming of works, the smooth and timely progress of construction on site, and financial control of the project throughout, plus health & safety and quality control.

The client is a busy national main contractor, with a turnover for the construction division in excess of £250m, with secured workload in the commercial, industrial, defence, and transportation sectors in the Hampshire, Surrey and South London areas.
Projects range in size from £15m to £70m. Work is secured through several national and regional frameworks, negotiated work with repeat clients, competitive tenders and development schemes for the investment side of the business.

The role will be a key part of the Project Management Area Teams as we look to obtain bulk construction completion and handover the area to the operator. This role will cover all non-Mechanical and Electrical supply aspects of the scope at hand across each, including Steel Frame, structure and groundworks.
Key Responsibilities
Co-ordination of sub-contractor activities, including chairing regular co-ordination meetings with staff and subcontractors.
Ensuring project documentation is completed for hand-over and Take Over
Studying drawings and technical documents and raising technical queries to the Solution Managers for clarification of any conflicting information
In liaison with the Agent maintain the Site Risk Register
Ensuring education and training on recognition of hazards and control measures required.
Overall compliance with Health & Safety Legislation, Company Policy and best practice throughout the construction / commissioning process
Ensuring all site supervisors including subcontractors have adequate training and resources to carry out their roles
Managing site rules and emergency procedures
Obtaining and issuing all permits, as required
Ensuring accurate signing of all site hazards during construction
Detailed programming of site activities in conjunction with sub-contractors and the rest of the team
Co-ordination of H&S meetings, site progress meetings
Ensuring maintenance of all installed plant prior to handover
Ensuring call-out procedures are established and followed
Ensuring Non-Conformance Reports are issued when required
Review of all available documentation and drawings to gain an in depth understanding of the works involved
Ensuring all required Work Packs are in place prior to works commencing on site
Supporting the Construction Manager in ensuring adherence to the Programme
Supporting the Construction Manager and owning and developing own short term Cell Programmes
Interaction with various stakeholders, client, designer, engineering, commercial etc. to ensure the timely close out of constraints and blockers
Attendance at Construction Sequencing sessions and supporting the co-ordination of activities on site
Direct engagement with supply chain site teams to ensure works can progress
Monitoring and reporting against progress
Ensuring compliance with all Work Pack Documentation for a right first time outcome
Weekly reporting against progress and review of forecast works to be completed across the following 4 weeks.
Each area will have 2 No. Cell Lead Work Pack Engineers, flexibility to be offered as part of co-ordination between those individuals ensuring at least 1 person is always on site.
