The Dental Training Unit and the Community Dental service are looking for an individual to join their team to commence asap.
This is a part time post for 22.5 hours per week. The service will require the successful candidate to be available to work on Monday, Tuesday and Friday (this may change according to service requirements) 8:30-16:30pm. The purpose of this post is to work with the Health Board and the Welsh Deanery to improve, facilitate and develop dental health care services in the SBU area, by providing:
1. Comprehensive general dental services to patients.
2. Comprehensive care to child and adult patients in the Community Dental Services.
3. To be able to triage and be part of the GA assessment pathway within CDS. The unit is engaged in the GDS Reform Programme.
The objective is to reduce inequalities in oral health status and improve access to the NHS dental services by providing an accessible comprehensive range of primary care services. To support the training and mentoring of the Dental Foundation Trainees and dental team as and when requested by the Senior Educational Lead.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work, at the Dental Teaching Unit, Port Talbot Resource Centre and Community Dental Services clinics in the SBUHB area.
To provide a full range of primary care dental services under GDS regulations in the Dental teaching Unit and Community Dental Services Dental Teaching Unit operates under Dental Contract reform arrangements.
CDS:- Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. To provide dental care, including Special Care dentistry, for the vulnerable children and adults seen by the CDS in a range of different settings including fixed clinics, mobile dental units, during domiciliary visits and in other locations visited by the CDS including secure units, residential homes and rehabilitation centres.
2. To participate in the paediatric referral and preventive pathway.
3. To supervise preventative programmes and care packages delivered by persons complementary to dentistry.
4. To undertake screening of priority groups when requested.
5. To participate in community based oral health promotion projects/activities commensurate with the post grade.
6. To work with and support the Designed to Smile, Gwen am Byth and Cluster Transformation Programs.
DTU:
1. To be responsible for ensuring Patients are aware of the nature of the contract under which they are treated and the probable cost of the proposed treatment.
2. Consent is obtained for each treatment.
3. Collection of NHS Patient charges payable.
4. Comprehensive clinical records are maintained.
