There are no line management responsibilities for this post. The post holder may be asked to help supervise and train other staff within the department. The post holder will be required to travel across sites for briefing meetings, training sessions and to support service provision when necessary. The post holder must adhere to a high level of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) whilst working in a cleanroom environment. As well as helping maintain a sterile environment by following a stringent cleaning and monitoring schedule. The post holder will be involved in the preparation of products for intravenous use in patients within LTHT. This will involve sessions in a cleanroom environment where dexterity, manipulation and a degree of speed in product preparation are required. The post holder will be required to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays on a rotational basis. CORE BEHAVIOURS AND SKILLS Team working Flexibility Can use initiative Can manage time effectively Ability to prioritise workload Effective verbal and written communication skills Ability to work accurately following standard operational procedures Ability to interpret written instructions Committed to self-development Attention to detail Commitment to provision of the best possible service PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Works under guidance of SOPs, GMP, COSHH and works independently under direction of Pharmacy Technician Higher Level or Specialist Pharmacy Technician Contribute to develop new ways of working and implementation of new policies and procedures Support, supervise and train junior staff Involved in the Aseptic Dispensing Service preparing a range of aseptically dispensed medicines to patients in the trust Assist with prioritising, organising and planning of work with aseptic services Labelling and dispensing of un-licensed and clinical trial medicines to set protocols Dispensing of Controlled Drugs, including accurate record keeping and secure storage Picking, packing, checking and despatch of pharmaceuticals against authorised stock requisitions Participate in stock control including stocktaking Assist in ordering processes for medicines and consumables, including requisitioning, unpacking, checking, booking in and ensuring appropriate storage Resolve immediate problems with out of stock medicines. Analysing the situation and liaising with colleagues, wards, pharmacists and suppliers where necessary Reception duties to include: dealing with incoming calls (and referring onwards on necessary) booking work in and out of the aseptic logger system and responsible Perform clerical tasks associated with aseptic e.g. filing, expiry date checks and data collection for statistics Participate in general housekeeping e.g. cleaning and tidying of work areas Participate with recycling of medicines Participate in the weekend and Bank Holiday working on a rotational basis Other duties associated with providing an efficient Aseptic Service to patients and wards and allocated by the specialist pharmacy technician.
