At Spearhead, we are proud to support care homes and healthcare providers by ensuring they have safe, reliable, and fully functioning patient handling equipment when they need it most. Every day, care professionals make a vital difference in people’s lives—and it’s our mission and privilege to empower them through dependable service and expert engineering support. As a Level 2 Field Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of this mission—carrying out maintenance, repairs, and installations that help care teams deliver the best possible support to those in their care.
The Role
Are you an experienced engineer with a knack for diagnostics and installation? Do you thrive in a hands-on, customer-facing environment? We’re looking for a skilled Level 2 Field Service Engineer to join our dynamic Service Department, covering Birmingham and surrounding regions, with UK-wide travel as needed.
As a Level 2 Field Engineer, you'll be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, repair, and installation of patient moving and handling equipment, including hoists, baths, beds, and more. This is a field-based role, meaning you’ll be on the road—visiting sites, surveying, installing, and providing technical expertise to ensure vital equipment keeps running safely and effectively.
You’ll also play a crucial part in pre-installation planning and full commissioning of fixed installations such as ceiling track hoists and wall-mounted equipment.
Please note: This role includes participation in an on-call rota for emergency callouts. Additional compensation details for on-call duty will be discussed during the interview process.

What We're Looking For
1. Mechanical/electrical background with fault-finding experience.
2. Full UK driving licence.
3. Strong communication and customer service skills.
4. Good physical fitness – some manual handling is involved.
5. Willingness to travel and stay overnight when required (with full expenses covered).
6. Experience with installation and basic building/construction understanding is a plus.

1. Bonus scheme after 6 months post-probation.
2. 31 days holiday (including bank holidays and company closure days).
3. Company pension scheme.
4. Overtime paid at time and a quarter.
