Team: Adult Learning Service
Bury Adult Learning Service is one of the key providers of adult and community learning in the borough of Bury. We were rated as Good by Ofsted in November 2021, who noted that we “put the learner and the community at the heart of everything (we) do.”
We are looking for tutors to join our curriculum team for the 2025-26 academic year, delivering accredited and non-accredited learning courses at our main centre in Bury and in community venues around the town.
You’ll need:
1. A recognised teaching qualification at a minimum of Level 4 (e.g. Certificate in Education, Diploma in Education & Training, PGCE/PGDE).
2. A recognised teaching qualification at a minimum of Level 5 (subject specialism).
3. Good organisational skills to ensure effective planning, preparation and delivery of excellent teaching, and to maintain accurate learner records.
4. The flexibility to work a range of working patterns, including some evenings.
The successful applicants will ideally have experience of teaching Photography, BSL and/or Stained Glass. English & Maths applicants will be able to demonstrate experience of delivering Functional Skills programmes, from entry level to level 2, in an adult and community learning environment (or other further education setting) and take an inclusive, innovative approach to teaching and learning that inspires learners to engage and achieve.
Our tutors typically work between 8 and 16 hour working week with a weighting for planning, preparation and lesson follow-up, subject to the requirements of the service. Specific requirements for this role will be outlined at interview stage.
