We are a dynamic multifunctional team delivering structural repairs and repair processes to support the Airbus fleet. We work closely together to provide complex repairs in support of planned major repair activities and wing major test programmes. We enjoy the challenge of creating and delivering repairs for any sort of damage, anywhere on the wing!
Working as part of an expert multiskilled team you will be responsible for Fatigue and Damage Tolerance (F+DT) analysis and justification of metallic and composite structures. Your primary role will be to work closely with design and static stress engineers to assess and validate repairs to damaged aircraft structures.
Responsibilities
1. Performing structural F+DT analysis and compiling justification reports for repair designs using Airbus approved methods and tools, working closely with skilled designers to develop optimum repairs
2. Creating, compiling and coordinating engineering documentation to deliver the required technical data for repairs
3. Provide technical guidance and support to the Airbus internal teams, including the offshore teams, and the suppliers as required
Skill Set
Essential
4. Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent) and relevant engineering experience
5. F+DT engineering background, Aircraft preferred
6. Experience of analysis of aircraft structures using a range of hand and computer methods
7. An understanding of the fundamental methods of F+DT analysis and an ability to develop these methods
8. Knowledge and experience on both metallic and composite structures
9. Understanding of the airworthiness regulations
10. An understanding and ability to decide, with a good rationale, on how the repair design affect the static strength of the aircraft structures
11. An ability to choose and apply appropriate analysis methods to the repair design
12. Ability to liaise/negotiate with Design, Customer Services and suppliers
13. Ability to demonstrate excellent computer skills
14. Good interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
15. Ability to translate customer requirements into operational deliverables
16. Capability to work under pressure and ensure the delivery is technically correct, on time and on quality within the tight time constraints
17. Be pragmatic, able to solve the problem and ability to make decisions based on a good engineering rationale
Desirable
18. Be conversant with technical requirements for repair design
19. Working knowledge of the Wing Structures of the Airbus fleet
20. Knowledge of the application of Finite Element analysis
21. Demonstrated problem solving ability
22. Understand the relevant Airbus design principles, processes, methods and manufacturing capabilities
23. Good knowledge and experience on both metallic and composite Airbus Wing structure
