The Malloy Aeronautics Team: Malloy Aeronautics Limited specializes in the development of heavy lift unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) for both civilian and military uses. Located in Berkshire, our operations are notable for their focus on in-house design and manufacturing. About The Role: As a Project Engineering Manager, you will be reporting to the Head of Engineering. This exciting role will place the right candidate at the forefront of unmanned air systems development in the UK. We seek a highly driven and organized leader to manage the engineering delivery of complex UAS projects. As a Project Engineering Manager, you will oversee the full engineering lifecycle, from defining stakeholder requirements to delivering proven capabilities on time and within budget. You will leverage your expertise in systems engineering and integration to guide architecture decisions, coordinate subsystem development, and ensure compliance with technical and regulatory standards. Additionally, you will engage with key stakeholders, drive project milestones, and communicate progress to senior leadership. This role requires a proactive mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment. Ability to hold Security Clearance - 5 years residence in the UK What you’ll being doing (but not limited to): Responsible for the Engineering Delivery of complex UAS projects. Managing projects through the Engineering Lifecycle to see projects through from stakeholder requirements to delivering proven capabilities on time and to budget. Driving the project engineering team through the setting of key milestones and presenting these to senior engineering function (Design Reviews and Readiness Gates). Engagement with stakeholders to manage inputs to the project. Using your Systems Engineering knowledge to help define architecture and integration strategies. Engagement with technical and regulatory authorities to ensure safety and compliance of the product. Reporting and documenting project progress to communicate to Engineering and Business Leadership functions. Supporting a project through all phases of development, validation and verification including deployment on Testing and Trials activities where appropriate. Note that this role can include Travel and work away from home both nationally and internationally as required. Essential Skills and Experiences: Qualified to Degree level or equivalent in a relevant STEM discipline. Systems Engineering knowledge and holistic understanding of complex autonomous systems. Experience of running complex engineering programmes and tools around effective management of projects and project communication. Experience with complex systems and applying engineering lifecycle controls to projects. Experience with subsystem integration on complex autonomous systems. Working knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, PCB design and layout, and control systems such as PID control. Working knowledge and experience of autonomous system sensing techniques, such as machine vision, GPS and inertial navigation. Working knowledge of rapid prototyping techniques such as 3D printing. Desired Skills and Experiences: Experience working in an industrial environment. Experience of integrating complex systems and/or systems engineering. Experience with UAS/UAV and autonomous systems. Understanding of Higher Autonomy Function and Autonomy Architecture. Experience working within defence. Experience engaging with aviation regulators (CAA and MAA).
