This includes delivering actionable insights, supporting financial reviews, and identifying opportunities for improvement. What you will be doing… You’ll play a key role in driving the stewardship and governance of the programme/function, ensuring strong accountability and insightful commentary for internal and external stakeholders. Working closely with the Financial Control Manager, you’ll review planning, budgeting, and forecasting information, challenging assumptions and decisions to maintain quality and consistency. By monitoring performance, identifying risks, and uncovering cost-saving opportunities, you’ll actively contribute to the programme’s success. Additional roles and responsibilities include: • Ensure project financials and performance are aligned with committed expenditure and approved base budgets for each project or programme area. • Collaborate with the Financial Control Manager by gathering financial performance data and working with the Commercial team to maintain consistent reporting across the HPC project. • Take ownership of the Tier 2 Subcontract schedule and costs, driving improvements, monitoring financial KPIs, and identifying risks and opportunities. Maintain robust Cost Control Plans where applicable. • Manage cash forecasting, including variance analysis and inputting forward cash forecasts into financial tools to assist the Treasury Department with accurate monthly funding requests from Shareholders. • Support the monitoring and validation of the Main Civils Cost Control Plan, ensuring relevant actions are identified and updated. • Provide financial process coaching and governance advice to the business. • Assist the Financial Control Manager with tasks such as budget adjustments, posting journals, and conducting ad hoc financial analyses. Who you are… To thrive in this role, you’ll bring strong commercial or business experience and a proven ability to support and challenge performance while building effective internal relationships. Ideally, you are a fully or partly qualified accountant with a recognised UK professional organisation such as ACCA, ICAEW, ICAS, or CIMA. Familiarity with tools like SAP, Anaplan, PowerBI, or ECOSYS would be a valuable asset to enhance your impact.
