Business Development Consultant - Protection

Job Summary
To develop sustainable and profitable business relationships:
1. To achieve or exceed annual new business premium targets
2. To achieve or exceed annual new business count targets
3. To achieve or exceed annual existing business retention targets
What You'll Do
1. To provide phone based and virtual (supplemented by occasional face to face) support to a defined panel of distributors. To negotiate, attract and retain business in line with Canada Life's profit margin expectations.
2. To work with a defined panel of distributors, ensuring that service remains exemplary, and their needs are met whenever appropriate.
3. To complete phone based and virtual follow up where appropriate, on new and existing business quotes, using all distributor interactions to establish and record feedback on competitor behaviour, price points, propositions and terms and conditions.
4. To provide phone based and virtual activity to ensure that all distributors are kept up to date with Canada Life materials, processes and product enhancements and promotions.
5. To be actively involved in relevant tender and internal/external presentation work.
6. To seek and identify specific business partnership opportunities such as SEA's, panel and preferred provider agreements.
7. Provide training and support so that the technology provided by the protection business is utilised by the distributor and customer for workplace and individual protection business.
8. To take personal responsibility to develop their knowledge and understanding of all protection products and the markets in which they are distributed. To provide technical support to distributors, differentiating Canada Life's proposition.
Who You Are
1. Experience in the financial services sector and/or general sales experience.
2. Account management skills and the aptitude/experience to manage a portfolio of distributors.
3. Clear understanding of the overriding business objectives of the protection business.
4. Excellent communication skills and a desire to develop professional presentation skills across all mediums of communication.
5. To develop and maintain up to date knowledge of our proposition, products and technology.
6. A passion for distribution and service and a willingness to develop.
Job Specific Accountabilities
1. To meet or exceed annual targets.
2. To be accountable for establishment, development and maintenance of a defined panel of distributors.
3. To be accountable for the new business results of the panel and where appropriate the retention of existing policies.
4. To ensure that distributors are aware of and understand our proposition and technology solutions.
5. To be accountable for completion of administrative and reporting tasks as requested by sales management.
6. To be accountable for demonstrating and evidencing behaviours in line with Canada Life values, both internally and externally.
7. To adhere to Canada Life policies, governance and best practice at all times.
