Do you have an engaging, patient and understanding nature? I am looking for a personal assistant who can build a positive relationship with my mother so that I can gain some respite opportunities. To start with you would just be spending time with my mum building a good report with her and letting her gain trust and acceptance. My mother is in her early 60’s and when well she enjoys listening to music, watching old TV shows like neighbours and home and away and also loves Asian cuisine. When her health improves I would like her to be able to go out for a walk in her wheelchair or go for a coffee.
My mother has struggled with her mental health over the years, however it is her mobility difficulties that really impacts her day to day life.
I am my mother's main carer and would like some respite from my caring role, so that I can attend work appointments, meet friends and enjoy my own life away from my family home. Company and companionship would be a big part of the role but as the relationship grows I would like to take a step back from some of the caring duties, which would mean that you could be helping with things like personal care, washing, dressing and preparing meals.
Duties include:
Medication prompting/administering
Personal grooming
Eating and drinking assistance
Moving and handling
Other relevant duties as required
Housekeeping
Shopping
Cooking
Transportation
Companionship
Dressing / undressing
Bathroom assistance
Candidate qualities:
Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
Reliable with good timekeeping
Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
Hygienic, tidy and well organised
Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
Honest and cheerful
Creative
Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
Able to always work to high standards of health & safety
Able to speak and read English or Bengali to a reasonable standard
