The Human Tissue Authority’s (HTA’s) primary goal is to protect public and professional confidence in the safe and ethical use of human tissue.
We are the national independent regulator for organisations that remove, store and use tissue for research, medical treatment, post-mortem examination, teaching and public display. We also approve organ and bone marrow donations from living people. With the interests of the public and those we regulate at the centre of our work, we aim to maintain confidence by ensuring that human tissue is used safely and ethically, with proper consent.

Are you an experienced and qualified accountancy leader? We are looking for a colleague to join our Finance and Resources team.
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Resources, you will lead a small professional team that is responsible for the entirety of financial management and reporting and control of the Human Tissue Authority (HTA). You will excel in building trusting relationships with HTA senior leaders, business teams and Board members, ensuring accurate and relevant reporting and timely, insightful financial input into all business matters.
The successful post holder will also make positive contributions as a member of the Business Delivery Team (BDT), supporting the direction and management of the HTA as a whole. A key part of your role will be to support the Senior Management Team (SMT) and individual budget holders.

What you will bring…
The Head of Finance & Governance will have a high standard of professional conduct. You’ll be experienced in leading on core aspects of finance, corporate governance, monitoring SLAs/Contracts and being responsible for the monthly production of performance reports for the Senior Management Team (SMT).
You’ll provide leadership and be accountable to the effective delivery of the finance function, you will lead a professional team and will be expected to create a positive culture for a strong control environment and encourage an atmosphere of empowerment of budget holders.
You’ll need to demonstrate a strong ethos of team working and an approach of working in partnership and collaboration with stakeholders and the public and a drive to encourage improvement.
Excellent communication skills both written and oral will be crucial to success in this role.
