As the Policy and Advocacy Manager – Financial Reporting and ESG, you'll be an advocate for investors, driving meaningful change by engaging with regulators, standard-setters, and policymakers to ensure markets are transparent and investors are empowered with quality information. Through your deep technical expertise, creative communication, and strategic relationship-building, you’ll be contributing to a stronger and more transparent financial ecosystem.

This position is based in London with hybrid working available. Candidates will need to be within a reasonable commuting distance to travel to our London office 2 days per week.
What You’ll Do
Your work will be dynamic, impactful, purposeful, and varied. In this role, you’ll:
* Lead Research Projects: Drive thought leadership, assisting in the initiation of research ideas; conducting policy research, developing white papers, writing articles, and performing surveys to inform and influence global standards.
* Engage with Policymakers: Work directly with regulators, standard-setters, and policymakers, ensuring investor perspectives shape proposals on topics like financial reporting and sustainability disclosures.
* Simplify the Complex: Craft engaging blogs, articles, and opinion pieces that translate technical insights into accessible content for CFA members and the public.
* Build Strategic Relationships: Collaborate with internal teams, CFA societies, and external stakeholders to amplify our advocacy efforts and expand the influence of CFA Institute globally.
* Champion Investor Interests: Stay ahead of emerging trends in corporate disclosures, sustainability, and data analytics while representing the voices of investors.
What You’ll Need
You’re not just qualified – you’re driven, curious, and passionate about the intersection of financial policy and investor advocacy. To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
* Technical Expertise:
o Experience in IFRS and/or U.S. GAAP accounting, auditing, with evidenced understanding of the preparation and auditing of corporate disclosures.
o Experience in investment analysis and research with evidenced understanding of the use of corporate disclosures and other information in the investment decision-making process.
o CFA Charter, CPA, or Chartered Accountant qualification (or equivalent) is advantageous.
o Familiarity with sustainability issues and disclosures and alternative data.
o Knowledge/interest in data science and/or machine learning would be a benefit.
* Exceptional Communication Skills: You can simplify complex topics into compelling, accessible narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.
* Curiosity & Initiative: You ask bold questions, challenge assumptions, and seek innovative solutions.
* Collaborative Spirit: You excel at relationship-building and working with cross-functional teams to drive shared goals.
* Global Mindset: You understand the nuances of diverse markets and policies and are eager to make a global impact.
Please note: this position will potentially involve around 10-15% of travel.
At CFA Institute, we are committed to transparency and equity in our hiring process. In compliance with wage transparency laws in many of the jurisdictions in which we recruit, we provide the following information regarding compensation for this position:
Expected Salary Range: £60,000- £70,000 per year.
Other benefits include eligibility for annual incentives, 12% pension employer contribution, and competitive medical benefits.
