Job Advert: Repairs Inspector (Warwickshire Council) Client: Warwickshire based Council Job Title: Repairs Inspector Start Date: ASAP Contract: Ongoing Temporary Contract Pay Rate: £22 per hour Umbrella LTD About the Role: Our client who a Warwickshire based Council are seeking a proactive and experienced Repairs Inspector to join their Regeneration and Housing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking inspections related to repairs, ensuring work is completed to the highest standard, and contributing to the provision of a high-quality repairs service to tenants. The role also involves ensuring that the Council’s assets are maintained and repaired in line with service standards and value for money principles. You will carry out inspections, quality assessments, and ensure adherence to Building and Health and Safety legislation. Key Responsibilities: Complete pre and post inspections of housing stock, including damp and mould inspections, and annual visits. Liaise with the Inspections team to ensure timely completion of works and accurate material orders. Monitor ongoing work by operatives, providing support and guidance as needed. Manage contractor performance, ensuring repairs meet council quality standards and are completed on time. Engage with tenants to ensure reactive repairs are satisfactorily completed. Maintain a high standard of quality control, conducting site visits and assessments. Address emergency asbestos incidents on-site (limited to Category B training). Support the void management process, including inspections and contractor coordination. Maintain detailed records of repair data, ensuring accurate tracking of works, timescales, and operatives' performance. Adhere to health and safety requirements and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. Assist in training staff and identifying areas for cost efficiency and best practices. Act as a liaison between internal council services and external contractors to facilitate timely and high-quality repairs.Essential Skills & Experience: Proven experience in housing repairs inspection or a similar role within a local authority or housing association. Knowledge of Building and Health and Safety legislation. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work efficiently, independently, and as part of a team. Good record-keeping skills and attention to detail. A customer-focused approach to engaging with tenants and contractors.
