We are excited to announce a new physiotherapy practitioner role on the orthopaedic ward. You will be working with experienced physiotherapists assessing and treating patients, giving out equipment where necessary and managing your own caseload.

• Are a physiotherapy technician with hospital inpatient experience
• Wish to work as part of the physiotherapy Orthopaedic team
• Are interested in the assessment, rehabilitation and onward signposting and referral of patients following admission to the orthopaedic wards.
• Are excited to manage your own caseload, treating non-complex patients independently.
• Keen to help develop and supervise a member of staff in the team at band 2-3 level
To work under indirect supervision of a physiotherapist in providing a high standard service to the orthopaedic in-patients on the Elective ward.
Work closely with the orthopaedic physiotherapy and occupational therapy teams to provide assessment, treatment, equipment provision and onward referral to elective orthopaedic patients.
To work flexibly, including taking part in weekend working on a rostered basis.

The post holder will:
· Assist in the provision of care to patients, supported and supervised by a senior physiotherapist.
· To be responsible for the elective patient caseload, including handover, pre assessment, post operative assessment and treatment, discharge planning and onward referral.
· Carry out clinical tasks (such as instruction/supervision and prescription of daily individual exercise programmes), requiring a wide range of technical ability, as well as an excellent level of interpersonal skills.
· Carry out clinical assessments independently such as range of movement and muscle strength, mobility and stair assessment.
· Monitor stock of disposable therapy equipment and liaise with the Ward clerk reordering items.
· To provide and order patient equipment from NRS (or equivalent supplier) within set competencies or as directed by an appropriate qualified therapist.
· To contribute to the induction of new therapy staff, therapy students and other non-qualified healthcare staff within the therapy team to the orthopaedic unit.
· To contribute to the supervision and training of other therapy assistants.
· Participate in continued personal education.
