Are you an experienced SEN leader looking for a unique opportunity to shape a brand-new independent school? This is an exciting chance to join a specialist education provider and build a school from the ground up, ensuring the best possible learning environment for children with complex learning disabilities (LD).
About the Role:
As Headteacher, you will have a blank canvas to develop a school that provides exceptional education and care for up to 20 students (phased intake over 1-2 years). You will lead a high staff-to-student ratio setting, ensuring each pupil receives the individual support they need to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
1. School Leadership & Development:
Establish and develop a new independent SEN school.
Lead and manage staff, curriculum, policies, and compliance.
Ensure a steady and structured transition of pupils over time.
2. Teaching & Learning:
Teach approximately 50% of the time in the initial phase.
Oversee individualised learning plans tailored to EHCP requirements.
Ensure a high staff-to-student ratio (typically 3 staff to 6 students).
3. Operational & Strategic Leadership:
Manage placements, referrals, and admissions.
Oversee budgets and resource planning.
Ensure compliance with Ofsted and SEN independent school regulations.
4. Safeguarding & Inclusion:
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.
Work closely with local authorities, families, and external professionals.
Essential Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (essential)
* Experience in SEN leadership (Independent or Mainstream with SEN experience)
* Strong knowledge of EHCPs, safeguarding, and complex LD needs
* Experience managing placements, referrals, and budgets
